Verbal Sexual Coercion

Verbal sexual coercion is persistent verbal pressure or the use of seduction ‘lines’ to manipulate a person into sexual activity. The use of verbal pressure and seduction lines is so common in certain relationships that they are seldom recognized as coercion. Consider the young man who deceives his partner into believing that he really loves her to persuade her to engage in sexual activity with him. His use of lies or deception can be considered a form of sexual coercion because it employs devious means to exploit his partner’s emotional needs in order to obtain sexual favours.
